As the days and nights are of equal length, the energies of the planet strive for balance. Still feeling the need for hard work, we’ve gotten more aggressive in our pursuits. The energy shifts a bit to allow us to express our dislike for the current authorities, becoming more active and emotional. Now is the time to see if we need to keep anything from our past and if we should adopt new technologies to meet our goals.
We’ll be feeling the impact of Saturn and Pluto combining forces for all of 2020. With Saturn leaving Capricorn where it’s strongest, and entering Aquarius some of that pressure from authority is reduced. Saturn, as Father Time, values tradition while Aquarius is a forward looking sign. So we may find ourselves tempted to re-create the best of our past or to use new methods to solve old problems. Saturn’s discipline is no longer working with Pluto’s transformation. Instead Pluto is joined by Mars and Jupiter. Strong masculine planets that are pushing forward the changes we need. Mars brings us swift action and Jupiter brings luck and success to keep things moving even if they aren’t very steady right now.
Saturn is the harsh taskmaster. Think of this planet as Father Time, an old man carrying a sickle just like the skeleton of death does. Father Time marches endlessly onward cutting away what no longer thrives, despite our desires. I am sure pruning the deadwood allows for new life, it just isn’t comfortable to be the tree under Father Time’s sharp sickle. This year Father Time’s steady march will keep us working harder than usual. This can cause us to age more quickly, especially if we don’t practice self-care.
Saturn spends 2 and ½ years in each sign moving backward for almost 5 months of the year.
For 2020 Saturn will travel 10 degrees twice this year. We start with Saturn in Capricorn where it’s most productive. We get all the way to the first degree of the next sign when it begins it’s Retrograde. By the end of 2020 we’ll only be back to the first degree of Aquarius again.
